Island Vibrations, a book of poetry and art created to reflect the natural wonder and beauty of the Golden Isles, contains 56 Haikus and over 25 illustrations.
A Haiku is a non-rhyming form of poetry of Japanese origin containing seventeen syllables in three lines. The first and third lines are five syllables each, and the second line is seven syllables.
Island Vibrations is intended to celebrate island living with minimum verbage, a touch of whimsey and a vast amount of poetic license.
Janis Hogan and Don Farrell live and work on Saint Simons Island,
Georgia, one of the four barrier islands that, with the historic
city of Brunswick, make up the Golden Isles.
They have created with words, brushes and pens their entire
careers and continue to do so in coastal Georgia.
